World’s first pens made from recycled bottles! Made from recycled PET bottles – from Bottle to Pen.
89% recycled: Using virgin plastic materials has the greatest environmental impact due to the depletion of fossil materials. By using recycled plastic, we simultaneously reduce landfill and carbon footprint with each pen.
Reduced CO2 impact: Significantly reduce your carbon footprint by increasing the lifespan of your B2P pen. Small gestures from everyone can make a significant difference in our fight against climate change.
It doesn’t cost you or the Earth: The additional cost for sourcing and processing the recycled materials are absorbed by Pilot as part of our commitment to being environmentally responsible.
How do you make it?
It’s as simple as collect, crush, pelletise, mould and assemble!
- Collect: We collect plastic materials from various waste materials in landfill and sort the plastic by type.
- Crush: The waste plastic is finely crushed to prepare them for a machine called an extruder which will help form the plastic into consistent pellets.
- Pelletise: The crushed plastic is melted into long rods and after cooling is split into small pellets around 3-5mm long which form the basis of what goes into the mould.
- Mould: Pellets are poured into a mould to create the individual components of a Pilot Pen.
- Assemble: Put together the moulded recycled plastic components with other parts such as the ink and springs.
Where is the plastic sourced from? There are many different types of plastic that we can recycle including polypropylene resin, polyethylene resin, elastomer resin just to name a few! These come from post-consumer waste products including plastic packaging, plastic parts for machinery and equipment and even fibres and textiles. These materials take anywhere between 20-30 years to totally break down but more importantly allows us to minimise our consumption of plastic material used in our products.
Are B2P pens more expensive than the rest of the Pilot range? Absolutely not! The additional cost for sourcing and processing the recycled materials are absorbed by Pilot as part of our commitment to being environmentally responsible. Our commitment to you is that the BegreeN range won’t cost you or the Earth.
Do you offer refills? The majority of the Pilot BegreeN range is refillable. Refills are both value for money and an easy way to reuse and reduce our waste footprint. The rubbish bin can wait!
