Large High School projector upgrade - our biggest project yet!

When St Vincent’s College in Potts Point contacted us for a large projector upgrade, we had no idea how large the project would be. The school was looking for a projector upgrade roll out across 57 different rooms.

“Each room had its own unique set-up, so the project was going to need some additional expert help,” said Judy Learmont, Kookaburra’s Representative Agent for North Sydney.

We contacted Nof Lopreiato, the owner of Primo Electrical Services, to get his team on board.

The problem

Many of the school’s buildings were heritage listed which restricted what work could be done. This posed an additional challenge to the unique set up in each of the 57 rooms.

“We had to take extra care and find out the details of each room before we installed the new projectors,” said Nof.

“In the end, we installed a mixture of both long throw and ultra-short throw projectors.”

The solution

Long throw projectors offer a unique, larger image size which can be stretched as wide as three metres. With many rooms at St Vincent’s College having high ceilings, these projectors were the ideal choice.

These projectors allow students and staff to view the screens from all angles of the room.

Alternatively, ultra-short throw projectors are useful when there is minimal distance between the projector and the screen. It also means the presenter is less likely to block the projection while trying to present.

“Where long-throw projectors were installed, we included motorised screens with a Joey 9 control system,” said Nof.

This control system enables staff and students to use a simple, one-touch system to control the projector, screen and inputs simultaneously.

The result

Our team were proud of the huge projector upgrade completed at St Vincent’s College and knew Primo Electrical Services would be able to help us install all the new projectors correctly.

“While we complete regular upgrades and installations with off-the-shelf products for schools, this one was our biggest project yet,” said Judy.

“St Vincent’s College were blown away with the projector upgrade and we couldn’t have done it without the help of Nof’s team at Primo Electrical Services.”
